Delta Eridani was an orange subgiant star approximately 29.5 light years from Sol.
Properties[]
Cooler than Sol, but over than two and a half times the size, the star is orbited by no less than ten planets in a layout similar to that of the Sol System; five rocky inner planets (all but the innermost with at least one moon each), and five gas giant outer planets (two of which featuring rings to rival those of Saturn) with an asteroid belt dividing the two groups. The largest of the Jovians was notable for being approximately six Jupiter masses in size, and featured a very large number of natural satellites.
Delta Eridani 4[]
Delta Eridani 4 or "Eden" as it would be dubbed by Bender, was the only world within the star's habitable zone, and was home to a sentient species dubbed "Deltans" by Bob. Other fauna included Gorilloids and Hippogriffs.
History[]
The second system visited by Bob following his departure from Sol, arriving in system in April of 2165. Bob specifically chose this star as his first destination out from Epsilon Eridani because of it's high level of suitability for habitation. The lack of a binary companion star, along with it's relative stability and exceptionally long life span meant that it had low UV emissions and a wide goldilocks zone.
After completing an initial survey scan of Delta Eridani 4, Bob headed back out to survey the asteroid belt for mineral resources. Upon detection of the Deltan's campfires, Bob began work on establishing some in-system infrastructure, starting with an early warning system of twelve stealthy observation drones arrayed around the system in an icosahedron, then tasking the AMIs with the construction of a communications station and several new replicant matrices.
