Bender, to Bob, We Are Legion (We Are Bob)

Discovery[]

The fourth planet of Delta Eridani was explored by Bob in 2165

Characteristics[]

DE4 is the only world in the star’s habitable zone.

Native Life[]

It has intelligent life – a mammalian-like species with a pre-stone-age society that Bob names The Deltans – and a thriving ecosystem. It has forests with woody trees, and many of the other plant and animal species seem to be analogous to Earth’s ecosystem. Some species such as the Pigoids are hunted by the Deltans. The Deltans also have several natural predators, including a Leopard analog that was a solitary hunter, the primate-like pack animals called Gorilloids, and the giant flying raptors called Hippogriffs.

Events[]

We are Legion[]

Bob discovers the Deltans and realizes that they are on the verge of extinction. He and Bender determine that the Deltans have been migrating away from the flint sources necessary for their survival. He initially helps Archimedes find flint, which Moses helps him to shape. Later, Bob reveals himself to Archimedes, which represents the First Contact between a (former) human and an extraterrestrial species.

For We Are Many[]

Some of the Deltans have begun to revere Bob, whom they call Bawbe (pronounced with a long, aspirated middle vowel, like “Baaaaaahb”). Bob encourages the Deltans to migrate back to their previous village sites, which had better resources such as flint and water, and which were more defensible from the Gorilloids. The Deltans make a difficult but successful trek across the mountains to a village Bob calls Camelot. They later discover the Hippogriffs, huge raptors that had been the reason the Deltans had originally fled the area. Bob attempts to manage the Hippogriff threat, but is forced to take extreme measures to protect the Deltans, who he has come to consider his family. As the Deltans thrive, a group of adolescents begins challenging the authority of the elders, and Bob becomes a persona non grata. He works clandestinely with Archimedes to orchestrate the departure of the rabble-rousers, who resettle in the nearby village of Cairleon.
