Location[]
It is the inner rocky planet of 82 Eridani. The planet is originally named Jotunheim by Owen, which was the Land of the Giants from Norse mythology. The name is soon changed by Katsu Ito, the representative of the Japanese enclave. The final name means “the abode of the heavenly gods.”
For some explained reason, Taylor has one of the Bobs tell representative Ito that the new name of the planet is going to be hard for people to pronounce, and that it was likely to be shortened to Takama. That is the name that Taylor most frequently uses to refer to the planet
Discovery[]
The planet was discovered by the replicant Major Ernesto Medeiros, although there is no evidence that the Brazilian replicant ever explored the planet or established a presence there.
Milo was the first Bob to arrive in the system. The first humans arrived from Sol in colony ships piloted by Isaac, Jack, and Owen.
Characteristics[]
It has a jungle ecosystem, and a humid climate with “impenetrable mists”. It has many large and dangerous animals. The northern latitudes are less tropical, and the Japanese enclave eventually settles there. The jungles have a very strong, unpleasant smell that varies by season, caused by a cabbage-like plant common to the swamps that dot the jungles.
